Rufous-collared Sparrow - Description
Rufour-collared Sparrow

We have kept a pair of these active and attractive sparrows for a couple of years now. They are hardy and a good community bird - they are not quarrelsome with other birds but can hold their own.

They feed mainly on seed - a finch mix - softbill food and fruit. They will take seed both from the pots and from the ground. They are not possible to sex and our pair have been giving us mixed messages. Sometimes they appear as a pair whilst at others they bicker and scrap. Neither has shown any signs of nest building yet.
