We had not come across chestnut finches until this year. It is an Australasian finch that seems to be doing well. It is hardy, not confrontational and mixes readily with the other finches.

It's diet is seed and greens, as with most other finches. Ours have not, as yet, shown any inclination to breed but we will see what happens come the spring.
